750ml RED Chateau Bernadotte, Haut Medoc 2010$ 77
It was recently announced that Louis Roederer had sold this estate to the Far East and this 2010 should encourage its new proprietors that this estate can produce very fine Bordeaux. The 2010 was very promising in barrel. Now in bottle, it offers a very refined, almost understated nose that has been “tempered” during maturation, even though those cedar and pencil shaving notes are still present and correct.
The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It is very well balanced with a touch of spice on the entry, fine weight in the middle and a classic, rather austere, graphite finish. It might lack the finesse of a top growth, but there is good substance and “solidity” to this Bernadotte.
