French Wine Description
Latricieres Chambertain Grand Cru is a close cousin of Chambertin. History did not mention it until 1508. At that time, Latricières was certainly mistaken for their royal neighbor: Chambertin. The etymology is quite mysterious: for some, no doubt poets, the origin is Frankish and means “little wonder”. For others, more realistic and undoubtedly more observant, it is the very nature of the soil that is used to name it: “La Tricière”, which means “poor land”.
