French Wines Description
Morey-Saint-Denis is rich with Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards such as Clos de Tart, Bonnes-Mares, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, and Clos des Lambrays. It forms a very personal transition in Côte de Nuits between the wine of Gevrey-Chambertin and those of Chambolle Musigny. Its history and its wine are marked by the powerful Maison de Vergy, the abbeys of Cîteaux and Tart, and great Burgundian families. In 1855, Dr. Jules Lavalle wrote about Morey-Saint-Denis that “you can say that it lacks nothing”.
